An excellent play out of the I-Form Pro to attack man and zone coverage is the Angle. This play has the halfback running an angle route. There are not to many defenses in the game that can defend his pass route without the defense either making pre-snap adjustments or it is manually defended.

Receiver Pass Route Reads Coaching Points
X Deep Out 4 If the defense plays man coverage, look for him once he breakdowns towards the side line. The pass must be a bullet pass and thrown hard left.
Z Curl 3 If zone coverage is called look for him once he curls back. Watch for a curl to flat defender.
Y Corner 2 If Cover 1 coverage is called, wait for him to break towards the corner. If the Y (tight end) receiver has more than the defender covering him, there is a good chance he will gain separation. Make sure to throw a hard bullet pass and lead the Y receiver towards the corner.
FB Flare 5 Look to dump the ball of to him if a blitz is called or no other receiver is open.
HB Angle 1 The plays primary default receiver. A great route to run if the halfback has speed and acceleration. There are two points the ball can be thrown to him if zone coverage is called. Before he breaks over the middle on his angle route or after he makes his break towards the middle of the field. For instance if a blitz is called from the right side of the offensive line, he will be open before he breaks towards the middle. If man coverage is called, wait for the halfback to break towards the middle of the field before making the throw.
