As most of you know we are huge fans of the X’s O’s of Football. We enjoy watching NFL Match Up and NFL Game Rewind each week. We are always looking for formations that are not in Madden. We are going to start doing a Madden 16 Wishlist over the next few months in hopes that some of the formations we see can be put in the game next year. The first formation we want to show is one we are going to call Gun Quads Diamond Left.

The reason we call it this is the quarterback is lined up in the Gun. There are four (quads) receiver’s clustered together in what looks like a diamond. All four of them are lined up to the left. We saw this formation in the 1st quarter of the Week 7 matchup of the San Francisco Vs Denver game. The Broncos were down inside the 49ers 6 yard line. We are not sure who were all the players on the field, but it looked like four receiver were lined up on left in a diamond, while the tight end was lined up split out to the right.

In the actual game film image above you can see what I am talking about as far as the formation actually looks like with the four receivers lined up out left and clustered in a diamond formation.

Gun Quads Diamond Left Plays For Madden 16

Below are three Wishlist plays we would like to see added in Madden 16 for the Gun Quads Diamond Left formation.

Gun Quads Diamond Left – Z Screen

The fist Madden 16 Wishlist play we want to show is one Denver actually ran in their game against San Francisco. Although we are not sure if this the actual play name, it is very close to what they ran. The Z receiver runs a screen route, while the receivers in front set up the blocking. The tight end, runs a slant from the right. This play would very effective against any type of zone blitz. Against man coverage, the tight end would be matched up with either a safety or linebacker.Imagine having Rob Gronkoski lined up out wide and match up against linebacker in single coverage.

Gun Quads Diamond Left – X Spot

This next Madden16 Wishlist play from the Gun Quads Diamond Left is a popular passing concept that most of us Madden players already know. It’s called X Spot. This play would be effect against zone coverage because of all the options to throw to. Notice the tight end is running a deep post. He could tagged to run a slant instead.

Gun Quads Diamond Left – QB Draw

The last Madden 16 Wishlist play we would like to see added from the Gun Quads Diamond Left is the QB Draw. This play would help keep the opposing defense off balanced because they couldn’t just sit and defend the pass. Notice the play is drawn up the same as the Z Screen. The only difference is the tight end is blocking instead of running a slant.

Final Thoughts

Hopefully the Gun Quads Diamond Left formation and these 3 plays can make it in Madden 16. If you have a formation or play that you have not see in Madden, but have seen it in a real game, please send an email to by filling out the Madden 16 Wishlist Formation Request Form below with the following info: week of game, teams that where matched up, time of when the formation was ran, and brief description of the formation.
