Pass Concept:

The Double Curl Flat has the quarterback dropping five steps. His initial read is the tight ends running flats towards the sidelines. If not open, he then looks at one of the receivers running curl routes.

Pass Routes:

Split End: Curl
Tight End: Flat (initial read)
Tight End: Flat (initial read)
Flanker: Curl
Runningback: Delayed Curl

Coaching Points:

The Double Curl Flat is an isolation read that works against Cover 3 zone coverages. The quarterback is taught look to throw to one of the receivers running flat routes. In the image above, it’s one of the tight ends. If the tight ends are covered, he then looks to throw one of the receivers (split end/flanker).
