New Audible System
For long as we can remember five preset audibles have always been available to us football gamers. Well those days are memories as now each formation has four formation set audibles that allow you to scroll through based on your on-field player personnel grouping. The cool thing is these new audibles can be customized through the in-game playbook menu or when creating a custom playbook.
Also new to audible system is the ability to change formations at the line of scrimmage based on-field player personnel grouping. However, there is a catch to all this, as you can only change to another formation with the same personnel grouping.
Gridiron Guide 14 Tip: Even though each formation has it own set of packages, it does not mean that it will change the personnel grouping for the formation. For example say we come out in the Gun Bunch and select WR Rotation. This package subs the tight end out for another wide receiver. Although the personnel grouping has changed 10 (1HB, 0 TE) personnel, we can not select other formations with 10 personnel, we can only select formations with11 personnel because that’s what the default personnel grouping is for the Gun Bunch.
For example say we come out in the Gun Bunch formation, which is a 11 personnel grouping. We have the option to audible into one of the four pre-set Gun Bunch plays or we can audible into another formation with the same personnel grouping by pressing left or right on left stick.
In this case we audible to the Gun Doubles. We now have four audibles to choose from. In this case audible to the HB Off Tackle.
If we decide we don’t like that play, we can audible into another formation by pressing left or right on left stick. In image above we four new audibles from the Singleback Tight Doubles to choose from. We decide to audible to the Stick play. Although the Singleback Tight Doubles is not a Gun formation, it does have a 11 personnel grouping.
Gridiron Guide 14 Tip: The only formations that will appear when pressing left or right on the left stick are the ones that have the same personnel grouping that were originally selected at the play call screen.
Defense Uses the Same Audible System
In case you are wondering, calling audibles is the same way on defense.
For example we originally called 4-3 Normal – Cover 3, but we decide need to audible into another defense based on what our opponent comes out on offense.
By press left or right on the left stick, we decide to audible into the 46 Normal – 2 Man Under. Although the formation is different, the 46 Normal still has the same personnel grouping that the 4-3 Stack has, which is 43 ( 4DL, 3LB).
We are sure some of you may not like the new audible system, but to be honest, this have been long over due. It will add new strategy on both sides of the ball to the game this year, plus making called audibles much more realistic.
